Part 2

Tea at Ministry of Foreign Affairs

It was a privilege to be invited to the Minister’s office for tea. I know it sounds almost like there’s a double-entendre , because back in school, “You are going to have tea with the principal” usually means you’re in trouble for either misbehaving or failing of exams. But no, I wasn’t in any trouble, and there was not only tea served in pretty delicate china, there were curry puffs too.

I learnt from somewhere that when you serve tea to the English, you ask if they would like lemon or milk. I guess in Singapore, it would be “Kosong”, “O” or “Tarik”?

I’m more of a coffee drinker but if I were to have tea, I like mine with milk. The “Tarik” kind. Not that I’m complaining though, just that I come to realise that there are myths surrounding politicians like there are surrounding celebrities. And perhaps in many ways we are similar.

How?

I guess that’ll take another tea session to find out.

Have you bought your copy of Style yet?

I really appreciate the team for choosing me for their August cover, because we all know that August is the month of Singapore’s birthday and as Singaporean, I hope to do my country proud, in some small way or another. The editor’s note was perhaps the most comforting to read because it was genuinely forthright. Melissa did a write-up of me that I’ve never read of myself before in any other publication, so it is really a huge compliment. Thank you, and thank you to the styling/hair/make-up/photography departments, for making me look, (if I may borrow what Felicia Chin said to me yesterday at the make-up unit), “vogue”.

I have to thank the intern for taking all these pictures for me. You were very professional (cos' all the pictures looked good!), haha!

Jetstar-ring Me!

Yes, I’m the Jetstar girl! It’s been really exciting shooting the commercial and I’d be sharing my travel pictures and experience with everyone soon. In the meantime, you have a reason to go on a holiday! Check out the commercial and the fare deals!

Weekend Indulgence

Weekend Indulgence

After craving chili crabs for two days, I finally went to Chinatown to satisfy my longing. Why Chinatown? The last time I did a television commercial there, the chili crabs were absolutely delicious. They were big and juicy and the chili-egg gravy was thick and had just the right tinge of spicy and sweet. So I went back to the exact same store last weekend, only to be met with a huge food fest crowd. For $15, they had 25 tokens that they could use to swap for food, pretty good deal I must say! Perhaps it was the overwhelming orders, shortage of crabs, or perhaps the art director for the television commercial placed a different sort of order the last time we were there, because this time, the crabs were smaller, less fleshy and weren’t too fresh. The gravy was too sweet and they were still out of man-tous (since the last time we shot there).  I know I won’t be craving for chili crabs for a while.

The best part of the night was the dessert. I love almond paste and since they ran out of it by that time of the night, it was almond shaved ice for me! Yipeee!
